Roanoke Wildlife Rescue
Giving Wildlife a Second Chance
Our
Mission
Our mission is to show respect and compassion for all wildlife through the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of orphaned, injured, and sick wildlife. We are also committed to educating our community about wildlife and promoting conservation through outreach and information services.
Every year, Roanoke Wildlife Rescue provides specialized care to native Virginia wildlife and helps community members determine when an animal truly needs assistance. From baby squirrels and opossums to raccoons, skunks, foxes, groundhogs, and other native species, our team works to give wildlife a second chance and return healthy animals to their natural habitats.
Wild animals face countless challenges including vehicle collisions, habitat loss, illness, domestic pet attacks, entanglement, and human interference. Our licensed wildlife rehabilitators provide specialized care designed to return healthy animals to the wild whenever possible.
We specialize in the rehabilitation of native Virginia mammals and are one of the few organizations in Southwest Virginia that regularly accepts and rehabilitates raccoons and skunks. We also provide care for other rabies vector species, including foxes and groundhogs.
Through proper nutrition, medical treatment, species-specific housing, and enrichment, we help wildlife recover and prepare for life back in the wild.
If you have found an injured, orphaned, or sick wild animal, contact us immediately for guidance.
